Thanks for a Great First Week

We really want to express our appreciation for a great first week of school! Thank you students and thank you parents - with as many changes and unusual circumstances as we have in place right now, it has been an exceptionally smooth start to what will, I’m sure be a very memorable school year.

Register My Athlete - for Participation In ANY School Sport This Year

Please be aware that Nebo School District requires that athletes who are trying out for any team sport have a current physical exam on file BEFORE trying out for the team. Exams are valid for one year. Parents will need to go to  www.registermyathlete.com to create an account (unless you already have one) and register their student. You will need to upload your student’s physical exam information as well as electronically sign other participation disclosures and information. No student will be allowed to try out for a sport without first completing the athletic registration at the Register MyAthlete.Com website.

Participate in Girls Tennis

All girls grades 7 - 9 are invited to participate in MJHS tennis. There will be a players information meeting on Tuesday, August 25th at 2:00 p.m. in Mr. Stevenson’s room 214 to discuss tryouts and what to expect. Tryouts will be 3:30 on the 26th and 27th of August. All girls who are trying out need to complete the register my athlete registration. If you have any questions please email Coach Stevenson (ty.stevenson@nebo.edu). Thank you!

Calling all Runners!

Interested in working hard - Getting in shape - Love running distances just for pure fun...  CROSS COUNTRY is the sport for you. The information meeting for Athletes and parents will be in the Main Gym Wednesday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m. for anyone interested.  Remember that you need to complete the Register My Athlete registration and have your physical exam uploaded before you can participate on the team. If you have questions please contact Coach Lundell or Coach Carter in room 201.

Mr. Whitney

Dear MJHS Parents and Students -

The First Day Is Almost Here

All students and parents are invited to attend our annual open house tomorrow, August 18th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (masks are required). The open house will be an unstructured time for parents and students to walk around the building and meet teachers. Additionally, all 7th graders are invited to attend our annual “Mustang Round-up” orientation tomorrow from 8:00 a.m until 10:30 a.m. The following day is the first day of school for all students - remember that school begins at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 1:55 p.m. Mon-Fri. If you have any questions please call the school at 801-489-2892. Thanks - we look forward to seeing all our amazing MJHS students on Wednesday, August 19th

Viewing Students Schedules and Locker Assignments

Student Portal in I-Campus will become active this week - Each student will be sent instructions for creating their own I-Campus account soon through their student email. Until then, in order to view student schedules you must use the Parent Portal account. We apologize that locker information won’t be viewable in Parent Portal until the first day of school. To ensure that every student has their schedule and locker information, we will have a printout ready for all students and will hand them out before school in the commons area on the first day. If you need this information stop by and pick up the print-out!

Picture Day is Coming Soon!

MJHS Picture Day will be this Friday, August 21st. Picture order packets will be sent home with students on the first day of school. If you choose to purchase a picture package, you can either return the packet and money on picture day, giving it directly to the photographers OR you can preview package options and prepay for them online. Simply click here - www.bellphoto.com and enter the MJHS online code: mapletonjrfall20 to pre-order your package. If you order online, your student won’t need to bring a receipt or the packet on picture day. All students will have their picture taken whether or not you decide to purchase a picture package so that it can be used for their student ID card and for the yearbook. If your student is enrolled in remote learning but wishes to be in the yearbook and have an activity card you may come in anytime between 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to have their picture taken.

PTO Welcome Letter

Parents, welcome to Mapleton Junior High School. PTO is an independent organization that promotes open communication and understanding between parents and school staff - we do not belong to any state or national affiliation, or support any political platforms and we keep all of the funds that we raise for our school. We do many wonderful things as a PTO including: provide the meals for the staff during parent/teacher conferences, support the annual Art Salon art show, Battle of the Books, Teacher Appreciation Week as well as many other staff recognition related activities. As you can imagine, to meet all of the goals that we have, we need ACTIVE participation. Many of you have already volunteered to be involved in the PTO this year and we appreciate your willingness to support and be involved. If you have not yet joined the PTO, we are asking for your support at this time. The membership fee is only $7 - We will have a table at Back to School Open House: Tuesday, August 18th; 1:00-4:00 p.m. I would invite you to stop by and join the PTO for the 2020-2021 school year. Joining is easy - and it really makes a difference! If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email Traci Snapp - PTO President (801) 361-5201 / ts1288@aol.com

7th Grade Day Information

Submitted by nate.whitney on Fri, 08/14/2020 - 17:57

Some students are a bit nervous about making the jump from 6th grade to junior high. We understand change can be difficult. To help make the transition easier and fun, we would like to invite all incoming 7th graders to our annual “Mustang Round-Up” 7th grade day on Tuesday, August 18th. It will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end at approx. 10:30 a.m. Upon arrival, all students will head to their 1st period class to watch an introductory video. Then students will be able to attend each of their classes and meet their new teachers. During the day, students will be able to learn how to work their locker, plus learn other important information. Parents who may be apprehensive about sending their student to 7th grade day alone may also attend. Masks will be required to be worn.

Buses will pick up 7th graders at their normal bus stops and at normal times on Tuesday morning. You can look up bus information on the Nebo Bus Route Finder by clicking this link: https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=NSD4K2L8WGYX&cid=NSD4K2L8WGYX  - Bus stop information will show up using this tool on or after August 3rd.

There will be some fun rewards and treats so plan to attend - Please reach out via email if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mapleton Junior High Administrative Team

Mr. Whitney
