We are so proud of our boys and girls track teams at MJHS. The district finals were held last Thursday and Friday and the following students placed in various events:

Each month the faculty at Mapleton Junior High presents the Spirit of the Mustang award to a faculty member that embodies the school mission statement of "Students are the focus - Success is the goal". These individuals go above and beyond.
In May, the award was passed to Stephanie Swensen, math teacher and department chair at MJHS, with the following remarks:
Hailey Cox, 8th grade student at Mapleton Junior High, has been wrestling competitively since she was in 3rd grade. Not surprising for a girl raised by a wrestling coach father and who tumbled with brothers that wrestle competitively also. Hailey focused her attention into “all girl” wrestling competitions, sending her to meets in Oklahoma and Reno, Nevada. Mapleton Jr. High School is pleased to announce the April 2014 Students of the Month. Each academic area selects one outstanding student per grade level to represent their department for student of the month. In order to be selected these students must show superior academic achievement along with exceptional citizenship. The MJHS students of the month were invited to a pizza party to celebrate this fantastic accomplishment. The students of the month for April are (listed by academic area):

Ms. Low's English classes have been working on a unit of poetry and what can be learned through this form of literature. It appears that, thanks to poetry, some very good life lessons may be cultivated!
On Thursday March 27 half of the seventh grade students at MJHS loaded bussed and header to “This is the Place State Park” in Salt Lake City. Students went through six learning station that gave them a hands on learning experience about many things they have learned in the classroom. Students were able to pull handcarts, visit a school house from pioneer times, and see working blacksmiths shop.
