The MJHS Service Learning students had the amazing opportunity to visit Central Utah Veterans Home. The students tied fleece blankets and performed a mini talent show to demonstrate our love and appreciation for the military men and women who served our country so bravely. Included in the visit, students helped veteran residents make puzzles out of popsicle sticks, shared life stories, and enjoyed a treat.
The Nebo Education Foundation surprised Mrs. Burton's classroom with a grant today. Mrs. Burton is our special education teacher at MJHS, she said "Today we were awarded a grant of $1,300.00 to purchase iPad's for our classroom. For my masters thesis in 2011, I researched using iPads to aid in academic learning in the classroom and access to the common core - the results were amazing! I can't wait to watch these amazing kids continue to learn and grow, they deserve the best! Thank you Nebo Foundation and Mapleton Junior High."
I would like to recognize Bonny Groneman as having the spirit of a Mustang.
Bonny is an advocate for all students. In every collaboration meeting I have been in with Bonny she is always sharing ideas based upon the needs of the students. She not only focuses on the needs of the low achieving students but also remembers the students who excel in their subjects. She reminds us that students are individuals that each need personal nurture and care.
