Today, Chris Crowe, author of, Mississippi Trial: 1955 and Death Coming Up the Hill came to talk with the writers club about his work and shared a simple revising activity.
Ms. Heaton, the club's advisor, has other authors lined up this school year. A few are Emily Inouye- Huey, author of Beneath the Wide Silk Sky and Grant Snider, author of The Shape of Ideas.
On Friday, the Nebo School District Title VI Office of Indian Education came to speak to Mrs. Rowley's, Mr. Cosgrove's, and Mr. Garcia's US History classes. Analysa Allison and Natalie Billie shared how Indigenous Americans dressed historically and contemporarily, and they told us about Powwows. Shoshana Begay taught us about Navajo storytelling, the Honeeshgish (or fire poker), and how to do an Indigenous American round dance.
Calling all artists and authors! If you love writing or art, this contest is for you! During red ribbon week (next week) we are going to have an art/poetry contest.

Speed Debating in Mrs. Anderson’s class. Students practiced using
ethos, pathos, and logos while making some strong (and very
passionate) claims.
Mr. Peterson Honors classes played Zombie tag and looked at how it resembles exponential growth.
We want to help you promote the love of reading in your community.
Libraries, schools, and non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for support to host their own Mini Reading Marathon. Support ranges from $100-500.
