Mustang Message 1/21/20

Dear Students and Parents,

 

Annual PTO Art Show - Entries Accepted Starting Tomorrow!!

The time is fast approaching for the annual PTO Art Show.  We will begin accepting entries in the MAIN OFFICE on January 22, 2020.  All entries are due by February 5th, 2020. Things to remember: Students will be allowed 2 entries per category.  Feel free to enter multiple categories, but please select your best 2 pieces. All paper entries (drawings, paintings not on canvas and photographs) need to be mounted on BLACK cardstock. Please do not submit any framed pieces. Thank you for your participation!  -MJHS PTO

 

Registration for Next Year

Parents, please be aware that students will begin next year’s registration process during the latter part of January. So that you are aware of the process and the dates here is a summary for each grade level:

  - 7th to 8th Grade Registration: Students will make course selections on January 28th

  - 8th to 9th Grade Registration: Students will make course selections on January 24th

  - 9th to 10th Grade Registration: Students will visit either MMHS or SHS for Sophomore Orientation on January 29th and then make course selections on January 31st (please note students are required to attend Soph. Orientation at their boundary school unless they have already been approved for open enrollment elsewhere). 

All forms are due back on the day of class selection to be used for online enrollment. For further information contact the counseling center at (801)-489-2896

 

Students Wanting to Take 9th Grade Honors English Next Year

Any student who wants to take Honors English in 9th grade needs to complete an application. Forms can be picked up from your current English teacher or the counseling office. In Honors English the same concepts are learned as regular English classes, but honors classes move at a quicker pace and go more in-depth. If you are interested, please return forms to your English teacher before the registration process is finished on January 24th.

 

BYU Discover STEM Event

The Mathematics Education Association at BYU is hosting their annual Discover STEM Event for 6th-8th grade students on March 28, 2020! The Discover STEM Event at BYU is free and an excellent opportunity for students to see real-world applications of mathematics, statistics, science, engineering, computers, technology, and other STEM fields. Students will learn and have a lot of fun as they experience the interactive and interesting activities provided by members of various STEM-related clubs at BYU! The event will be held in the Wilkinson Student Center Terrace on Saturday, March 28th from 9am-Noon. The deadline for pre-registration is February 24, 2020 - Each student who pre-registers will get a free Discover STEM t-shirt. Walk-ins are welcome but are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
