The MJHS freshman team, coached by Coach Zack Beddoes and Coach Dave Murphy, is composed of 14 boys for the 2011-2012 season: Abe Durrant, Brigham Brau, Chandler Cloward, Cole Casper, Elliot Call, Garret Clark, Jordan Jones, Jordan Williams, Kai Ruiz, Mark Sumsion, Mason Murphy, Matt Nemelka, Parker Johnston, and Thomas Slack.  The team has the strong support of its managers: Dane Carlson, Andrew Sau, Chandler Mitton, Kal Ruiz, and TR Hulse.  So far, MJHS has a 2-1 district record, their first win was against Diamond Fork at home on December 13th. Diamond Fork had been undefeated in preseason and regular season games before falling to the Mustangs. On December 15th, the Mustangs suffered a hard loss to Mount Nebo in Payson in a very close game.  In their last game before the Winter break, MJHS faced their cross-town rivals on December 20th at SJHS and beat Springville Junior High for their second win of the season.  Playing Springville was somewhat like the Civil War when brothers fought against brothers, as most of the boys at SJHS and MJHS have played basketball and football together for years on the same teams.

The Mustang’s next game is scheduled for January 6th at 3:30 pm at Spanish Fork Junior High School. The Lobos have a strong team this year and the Mustangs are preparing hard for the contest.  The Mustangs have been practicing during the Winter break of which Coach Beddoes has commented, “I am very pleased with the team's offensive execution of these last two practices.” Come out and support the Mustangs this Friday in Spanish Fork!
