Principals Email Update

Submitted by nick.sheffer on

Dear Parents -

As you are aware the COVID-19 virus known as Coronavirus is currently a top concern nationwide. I am reaching out through this email to help communicate to parents and the community what proactive measures are being taken and have been taken by Nebo schools to protect students and our MJHS community.

Earlier today an email was sent by Asst. Superintendent Scott Wilson to all parents containing important information about Coronavirus and the district’s preparations and response plans. Please be aware that the school district is working closely with the county and state health departments to monitor and respond appropriately to this quickly evolving situation. School dismissal or closure decisions will be made based on real time local circumstances here at MJHS by Utah County Health Department officials in coordination with state and school district officials.

Right now school will continue as normal with the exception that performances, assemblies and other large gatherings will be cancelled or postponed to a later date. This may impact planned events such as fine arts concerts, class field trips, etc. Additionally I have instructed our hard working custodial staff to be extra vigilant and increase our school sanitation techniques and practices. Surfaces such as doorknobs, desks, drinking fountains and the like, will continue to be carefully sanitized on a daily basis. We will also review in Mustang Time lessons with students the hygiene measures that prevent the spread of the virus. I remind parents that any student with symptoms of illness should be kept home and then be sure to let the school know.

If cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) are confirmed in our community or in connection to our schools, we will immediately notify families and employees. In the event of a school wide dismissal or closure here at MJHS, our faculty will be prepared to deliver online curriculum and classroom instruction to our students. For additional information regarding how Nebo School District is addressing COVID-19, including the most recent updates, please visit our website at http://www.nebo.edu/.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we deal as a community with this pressing health issue. Please call or email an administrator or school counselor if you have any questions or concerns regarding you or your student’s individual situation.

Sincerely,

Nate Whitney
