For the month of January Ms. Heaton’s classes had a reading contest to see who could read the most pages for the month. Most of the students did an outstanding job and many of the classes where very close. Reading is one of the most important skills that students need to be successful in the real world. With this contest Ms. Heaton is trying to instill a love of reading in all of her students, which hopefully will continue through-out their lives. The students in her classes combined to read over 50,000 pages for the month. The winners for each class received a 10 dollar Amazon gift card and the overall winner received a 20 dollar gift card. The winners were:

1st period Zac Thorn 1,324 pages

2nd period Nathaneil Eifert 1,448 pages

3rd period Samantha Hansen 1,380 pages

4th period Michelle Squire 5,296 pages

5th Period Emmie Franks 3,142 pages

6th period Joshua Gardner 7,138 pages

7th period Camilla Pendleton 6,692 pages

The overall winner was Tessa Barrus reading 10,279 pages

Great job to all the students that participated and keep on reading!
