HOPE Squad Retreat

Submitted by andrea.pond on

On Monday the members of the 2016-17 HOPE Squad went to Shadow Mountain for their annual retreat. The students were introduced to the HOPE Squad advisers and the goals and objectives for the year were laid out. Throughout the year the students on HOPE Squad will be trained in QPR, which stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. Students will be trained in recognizing warning signs in their peers, persuading them to get help and referring them to an appropriate resource in order to get help. The intent of HOPE Squad is to offer hope through positive action at MJHS.

Today the student government introduced our theme for the 2016-2017 "Make a Mustang Difference" with an amazing welcome back assembly.  The student government has worked all summer on this assembly which included games for the students and teachers and a dance.  Thanks to all the student and teacher volunteers for participating, it was a fun way to start off the school year!
