Project Teddy Bear

The Hope Squad with the generous of support and help of MJHS students collected nearly 800 teddy bears for the Teddy Bear Project 2014 Bank of American Fork in Spanish Fork. The bears will be given to the Family Support Treatment Center in Orem, the Family Support Center in Midvale and House of Hope in SLC and Provo.

Primary Childrens Hospital Fundraiser

Every year, Mapleton Junior High gets in the spirit of Christmas by having a school-wide fundraiser. And this time around, they decided to make the fundraiser extra-special by raising money to help kids their own age. Their fundraiser: Gift baskets for the patients at Primary Children's medical hospital.

Orchestra Holiday Tour

The Symphonic Band, Jazz Band and 9th Grade Orchestra performed at Mapleton Elementary today and will perform at Hobble Creek, Sage Creek and Cherry Creek tomorrow.  All of the students have put in a lot of practice and preperation.  Music is a great way to celebrate the holiday season.  Thank you students!

Daily Herald Educator of the Week: Melissa Heaton

Melissa Heaton teaches 8th grade English at Mapleton Jr. High and was selected as this week's Educator of the Week. An alumna of Brigham Young University, Heaton not only teaches at Mapleton Jr. High but also is involved in the Central Utah Writing Project and Utah Council of Teachers of English.

"I enjoy having my students share the books they are reading or what they are writing, and I like to share with them what I write and read," Heaton said. "Those are fun connections."

Make it With Wool at MJHS

The State Make It With Wool contest was held at Mapleton Junior High on Saturday, December 6, 2014.  Students selected patterns and wool earlier in the school year and then made beautiful wool outfits to wear.  They were judged on appearance, marketability, and sewing construction.We had 5 students participate from Mapleton Junior High that have been enrolled in the Clothing 1 class this fall.  Emily Ells, Kylee Schramm,Janna Miller, and Camille Wirthlin participated in the Junior Division for students who are 13-16 years of age.  Shanelle McClellan participated in the M

Student of the Month - November

Mapleton Jr. High School is pleased to announce the November 2014 Students of the Month. Each academic area selects one outstanding student per grade level to represent their department for student of the month. In order to be selected these students must show superior academic achievement along with exceptional citizenship. MJHS Art 7

Students in Mr. Anderson's Art 7 classes worked really hard to form this amazing collage.  Each student painted 6 tiles imitating artist Chuck Close.  The result is amazing!  Way to go students!  Come take a look in the commons area.
