“The grant money will be used to order CPR manikins. The manikins will provide students hands-on experience to practice the steps and techniques for administering CPR. This will help students understand what it feels like to give compressions and breaths in real life. This practice will increase students’ chances of remembering how to administer CPR correctly and effectively in emergency situations. I’m grateful for Nebo Foundations for providing this grant and helping my students to save lives!” exclaimed Jodi Partridge, health teacher at Mapleton Junior.
Sherrie Dunford, guitar teacher at Mapleton Junior, said, “To have music stands that belong to the new guitar program at Mapleton Jr. High is such a great advantage for us. This program in its fledgling year last year drew four rather smallish classes of students who wished to learn the guitar. This year the classes are more than twice as large and are progressing nicely. Having our own stands means not having to drag stands from other music rooms or having two classes need them at the same time.
Congratulations to MJHS boys basketball team. They placed 2nd in the championship game Friday against Salem Junior High. Way to go!

Representatives from US Synthetic (based in Orem) came to present information on problem solving to the Intro to Information Technology class on Thursday. Their company focuses on a problem solving cycle that they call PDCA which is an adaptation of the scientific method. Students were ask to implement this cycle while creating replicas of a model, lego airplane. Teams tried to build as many planes as possible in three minutes, then evaluate what problems kept them from making more planes, and tried to eliminate those problems during the next building phase.
