Our beloved Math teacher, Stephanie Swensen, is this year’s recipient of the Crystal Apple Award.  The Crystal Apple Award is given to teachers that show devotion to students and outstanding performance in the classroom and is awarded by nomination from the school faculty.  Stephanie has been a full time teacher at Mapleton Junior High since August, 2007 and currently serves as division chair for our Math department.  Ms. Anderson, principal at MJHS, states the following:  “Stephanie is an amazing math teacher. She creates a positive, warm classroom culture where students love to learn. Stephanie reaches out and connects with all of her students. I am impressed with her ability to motivate and build students.”  Her coworkers affirm that she cares about each and every student.  She is the teacher that never gives up on any student and rallies behind those most difficult students even when they don’t want her to.  She is an expert in her field and the students recognize it and trust her.

Stephanie has been married to Todd for 26 years and they have three great kids.  She has a BS degree from BYU and previously worked at Word Perfect.

The staff of Mapleton Junior would like to extend their congratulations to Stephanie for an award well deserved!
