It has been a low-key week here at Mapleton Junior High, however we have had some sports events and daily activities that are worth mentioning.

Our Golf team played last week and we did great, we won. Dane Carlson is on the team and he said his favorite thing about golf is, “Getting to go out and play by ourselves and with a bunch of friends.” A ninth grader at our school, Kai Ruiz who plays on the Maple Mountain golf team, and might be considered one of the better players on the team took 3rd place among all the boys who played. He is a great representative of MJHS and this is a great accomplishment for Maple Mountain High School and for Kai.

Also our Cross Country team has had a great year so far. Their practices are hard but fun. Elise Goodrich said her favorite thing about Cross Country is, “Being and working as a team and meeting new people.” They have had some great meets this year but due to bad weather the meet on Oct. 6, 2011, was canceled. Keep it up Golf team and Cross Country, keep up the Mustang Spirit!

A fun event that took place at MJHS on Saturday October 8th, 2011 was the Daddy Daughter Piggy Skin Playoffs.  At 10 am, girls and their fathers played a few friendly games of flag football.  It was a fantastic opportunity for the girls at MJHS and their dads to spend some time together.  The tournament ended at about noon and several families came to cheer on their players.

Also, with the weather changing, keep the snow on the ground and have fun, but remember NO SNOWBALLS
