Dear Students and Parents,

Free Parent Education Night

You are invited to attend a parent education night hosted by Nebo School District on September 16, 2019 at 7:00pm - Salem Hills High School. This presentation will feature Dr. Joe Hendershott, with his message on how trauma affects student behavior, relationships, self-esteem, mental health and learning. He is a well known keynote speaker at various conferences and conducts professional development across the nation on the effects of trauma on learning and behavior. Dr. Hendershott has authored two books, Reaching the Wounded Student (Eye on Education, 2008) and 7 Ways to Transform the Lives of Wounded Students (Routledge/Taylor & Francis, 2016). Calling all Mathletes!!!

Mapleton Junior High MathTeam is an extracurricular group for math-loving students at MJHS.  Students meet every Wednesday before school, to participate in challenging and creative mathematical problem solving! The program is designed to give students who have an aptitude and love for math additional challenges beyond the traditional classroom environment. Benefits include:

- Applying regular math concepts in real-world situations, and understanding why math is used

- Starting early on ACT/SAT prep; problem-solving strategies for these types of questions

- Connecting with other students who have a similar interest and aptitude

- Competing with students from other schools around the state and country

Last year, in our first year, the MJHS team ranked 2nd in Utah County and 9th in the state!  This year we are looking to build on that strong performance, and provide more opportunities for our students.  If interested, contact your math teacher and pick up a registration form.
