Mustang Message 12/17/18

Dear Students and Parents,

Reminder - End of Second Term

Did you realize there are only seven school days left in this term after Christmas Break?  Please check with teachers to get any missing work gathered, completed and turned in. The holiday break provides extra time if needed, to make up school work that could help raise a grade.  Take advantage of the opportunity!

Way to Go Mustangs! - MJHS Annual Fundraiser Was a Huge Success

Congratulations to our awesome students as well as the Mapleton Police/Fire Departments, Chick-fil-A, Fizz, and Ashman Dental - together we raised over $12,000 that will now go toward several different causes. First, it was used last week to fund our Sub for Santa project - Student government students went shopping and bought gifts for local kids so they can have a Christmas that they might not have had. Second, we will be buying fleece and tying the ends to make blankets for Utah Valley Hospital Primary Children's Network in Provo. And finally and perhaps most importantly, a portion of the funds will be used to send our love and support to Kallie Jensen and another student, both of whom are battling cancer - Thank you for your amazing support of this holiday tradition!

Springville Public Library - Teen Night

Friday, December 21st from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. all youth, grades 7 - 12 are invited to come participate in Springville Library’s annual Christmas Teen Night. There will be a lot of fun activities going on - like an ugly sweater contest, gingerbread houses, the candy bar game, fortnite and brawl games, etc., but more importantly the library will be hosting the first ever Winter Reading program, which will also kick off that evening! Come join the fun this Friday at Springville Public Library.

School Reading for Enjoyment Competition

Ms. Heaton's Reading for Enjoyment Class has organized a school read-a-thon. Students who want to participate can pick up a reading log in the office, library, or Ms. Heaton’s classroom (Room 119). Students will log the hours that they read from Thursday, January 3rd through Wednesday, January 9th. Logs are due to Ms. Heaton after school on Wednesday, January 9th. The top 20 student winners and the top 5 teacher winners will attend an ice cream party during Flex on Thursday, January 10th. Happy reading!
