Mustang Message 10/5/20

Dear MJHS Parents and Students -

Parents: Please see the attached letter if you would like to switch your student to remote or at-school learning for Term 2.

Be a Part of MJHS High Honors

Mapleton Jr. High is offering 8th and 9th grade students an opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular High Honors Achievement Program. High Honors will be offered in several subject areas. Students achieving High Honors will attend a special event and receive an award reserved for those who complete all of the requirements.  If you would like information on this program please contact the counselor, Mrs. Henderson at kate.henderson [at] nebo.edu (kate[dot]henderson[at]nebo[dot]edu)

Participate in the Battle of the Books!

We are excited to kick off our fourth year of Battle of the Books at Mapleton Junior High School! Talk to your friends and classmates and create a team of four to five students. Your team can be any combination of 7th, 8th or 9th grade students. To sign up - simply drop by the library and pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Marett and return it stapled together with your team before Wednesday, October 14th! Please note - You DO NOT need to form a full team to submit your permission slip - we will form teams for all students that do not have a full team request or friend preference. Then read 4 to 5 books from the “Battle of the Books” list and you are ready to compete! In January 2021, teams will come together for a game show style tournament during school where they will work as a team to answer questions about the books on the list. There will not be a District competition this year.

Parents - We also need volunteers to help run battles during school hours one week in January.  If you would like to help out during that week, call or email your name and phone number to Lori Marett, Media Specialist, 801-489-2892 lori.marett [at] nebo.edu (lori[dot]marett[at]nebo[dot]edu)

Ordering School Breakfast or Lunch

If you would like to place a school meal order for a student(s) that is not at school you can do this by going to the MJHS Main Page and filling out the survey link at the top of the page. This is the method of ordering breakfast and lunch if your student is a remote learning student or is required to stay home for quarantine or for other COVID-19 related schedule adjustments or closures. Be sure to fill out the survey each day you are requesting a meal and for each student. You will need to order before 9:00 a.m. each morning and meals can be picked up in the front office between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. Meals are only provided on scheduled school days and for students of Nebo School District. For special circumstances, you can still call the school lunch manager directly to place your order at 801-489-4438.
