HOPE Squad Application 2016-2017

Submitted by andrea.pond on

Dear Parents and Students of MJHS,

We are excited to start a new year here at MJHS. As we begin the new school year we are starting the process of selecting new HOPE Squad members. As a HOPE Squad member students need to display naturally good listening skills and have a warm and caring demeanor towards all students. We are looking for students that their peers trust to talk to during difficult times.

After the nomination process, the students selected will be invited to serve on the HOPE Squad for the 2016-17 school year. HOPE Squad is a peer support team. If the student chooses to serve, with parent permission, they will be trained in observation, listening, and referral skills during FLEX once a month throughout the school year.

There are two ways in which students will be selected.

The first is through a peer nomination process. To nominate a classmate please go to

before Friday, September 2, to nominate a peer that you feel would be a trustworthy and understanding friend to those struggling.

If you or your student is interested in becoming a HOPE Squad member we encourage you to come to the office and pick up an application. We will be accepting applications up until Friday, September 2.

We would appreciate if you would encourage your kids to thoughtfully consider who they would like to nominate. Thanks so much for your time and consideration. If you have any questions and or concerns please contact Kirsten Hullinger at801.489.2844 ext 1436 or email kirsten.hullinger [at] nebo.edu (kirsten[dot]hullinger[at]nebo[dot]edu)
