The Nebo school district cross- country final meet was held Wednesday Oct 10 at Mapleton Junior High. The Mustangs had a great showing in both the boys and girls meets. The boys were lead to victory by Haden Penrod, who was the overall champion with a time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds. The team won by 12 points and had two other athletes run under 9 minutes. In the girls meet the mustangs were edged out of the top spot by a small 5 point margin finishing in second place behind Diamond Fork. Megan Robertson lead the way for Mapleton finishing in fourth place overall. Coach Burton states “The season was great we had approximately 70 athletes on our team. We had a great time at practices and meets bonding and being a strong team unit. Our team was always so great to cheer each other on along with cheering on other schools as well. There was great sportsmanship throughout the season. A big thanks goes to our coaching staff Cami Burton and Benjy Frame for all the time and effort they put in on behalf of the team. We are proud of all of the athletes that participated with our cross- country team they represented our school with class and are great young men and women.
