Dear MJHS Parents and Students -

Picture Retakes

School picture retake day is this Wednesday, Sept. 23rd.  Any student that missed picture day or that would like to have their school picture retaken should participate. Pictures are needed for student ID cards and to be in the yearbook. Remote learners are invited to participate by coming in between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. If your student is having their picture retaken, please send the old picture packet back to school with them and turn in it to Bell Photography when they are called down.

Remember to Schedule Your Appointment for Parent Teacher Conferences IF Needed

This Thursday, September 24th - Parent/Teacher conferences will be by appointment ONLY. Please be advised that teachers will NOT be in the gym as usual, for walk-in visits! Not all, or even most parents will need to attend. We are encouraging that parents with concerns in a specific class set up an appointment with your students' teacher(s) for this Thursday. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. and appointments will be for 10 minutes or less. This is an attempt to greatly reduce face to face traffic during P/T Conferences. If you feel that you do need to set up an appointment with a teacher, please reach out to them directly through email. All teacher emails can be found on the school faculty webpage - http://mjhs.nebo.edu/faculty

Invitation to Volunteer with PTO

Parents and Guardians: We know there are many of you who are willing to lend a hand when needs arise, however, the PTO does not have access to any of your information unless you share it with us. If you are willing to volunteer this year, would you please click HERE to be taken to a form where you can share your name and email address with us? Thank you for all you do! -Mapleton JR PTO

Student Drop-off and Pick-up Safety Concerns

Because of ongoing safety concerns and some recent “close calls” as students exit cars and walk through traffic, we remind parents to please use caution in our drive through lane and parking lots and remember to yield to students in the crosswalks. The drop-off/pick-up zones are designed to facilitate a circular traffic pattern with all traffic exiting through the east exit onto 400 E. When followed, this pattern makes our schools drop-off/pick-up zones much safer. Your help with this important safety issue is appreciated!

Math Team Is Moving to Zoom!

To comply with guidelines, Mapleton Junior High MathTeam is moving to online and registration is starting now! MathTeam is an extracurricular group for math-loving students at MJHS.  Students meet every Wednesday before school, to participate in challenging and creative mathematical problem solving! The program is designed to give students who have an aptitude and love for math additional challenges beyond the traditional classroom environment. Benefits include:

  • Applying regular math concepts in real-world situations, and understanding why math is used

  • Starting early on ACT/SAT prep; problem-solving strategies for these types of questions

  • Connecting with other students who have a similar interest and aptitude

  • Competing with students from other schools around the state and country

Last year, MJHS took home 1st in Utah County and 8th in the state!  If interested, contact your math teacher and pick up a registration form.

Mustang Message 9/8/20

Dear MJHS Parents and Students -

Important COVID-19 Updated Information

We have now been back at school for a couple of weeks and hopefully are getting into the routine of how school will function during this pandemic. We ask parents and families to be aware of the precautions and duties that we are asking your help with, namely the importance of checking your student before school each day for any signs of illness - if there is a cough, sore throat or any other symptoms of illness please keep your student home.  Teachers will reach out and work with you and your child to ensure that they don’t fall behind. Please review the updated document by clicking this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RZIcaV5LlR2tM54nPhF5GHkpMQpksZ_Lfp8SQ77cUCg/edit#heading=h.tcpd0451k3e3

What happens if your student comes in contact with a student who tests positive for Coronavirus?

Our response to this situation is under the direction of the Utah County Health Department. We have been told that only students and staff who have been in direct contact (more than 15 min exposure, without a mask, and less than 6 feet) to an individual who has a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis is considered “exposed”. Please be aware that “contact tracing” will be done through the Utah County Health Department with our school nurses and exposed individuals will be asked to quarantine.

Preparing for Parent Teacher Conferences on Sept 24th

With this unusual year, Parent/Teacher Conferences will be by appointment only. Not all, or even most parents will need to attend. We are encouraging ONLY those parents with academic concerns to set up an appointment with your students' teacher(s) for Thursday, Sept 24th. Teachers will be in their classrooms and not in the gym from 3:30 - 8:00 p.m. and appointments will be for 10 minutes or less. This is an attempt to greatly reduce face to face traffic during P/T Conferences. If you feel you really need to visit with a teacher, please reach out to them directly through email to make that appointment.

Mustang Power Hour

Please be aware that teachers are here to individually help students as needed each day from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Teachers are available in their classrooms to consult with students, re-teach concepts, conference online with students who are sick or quarantined, and generally provide help for students who have missed. To take advantage just email the teacher or have your student set up an appointment with them.

Dear MJHS Parents and Students -

If You Forget a Mask...

Wearing a mask is one of the critical components that allows our school to stay open. The health department will not allow a student to attend school that isn’t wearing a mask. The administration is fully enforcing this policy and students that will not wear a mask will be asked to go home and will be transferred to remote learning. For students that forget a face covering, a school mask will be available for purchase in the office and will be given at cost to use during the day.
